I Hate Luv Storys is a film directed by Punit Malhotra. The film is a young and vibrant love story with tremendous appeal for the youth. Director Punit Malhotra brings the fresh pairing on screen in this film.

I Hate Luv Storys' main lead character, Jay (Imran Khan) tries to poke fun of all the mush and romance ideas that generate from Bollywood. Ironically, working with Bollywood's King of mush, filmmaker Veer Kapoor (Sameer Soni), he barely manages to keep a straight face about all that's happening around him.

A complete opposite of Jay, Simran (Sonam Kapoor) joins Veer Kapoor's production as a set designer. As expected clashes take place between the two but eventually they end up becoming good friends. Gradually she ends up falling for, Mr. Wrong at the risk of dumping her loyal perfect Mr. Right Raj (Sammir Dattani).

Jay rebuffs her. Hurt, she tries to get over her fixation for Jay and decides to concentrate on her relationship with Raj. But by then Jay has fallen head over heels in love with Simran and wants her back. How he tries to use all the tricks from the cliched Bollywood references and much more to woo Simran back, forms the rest of the film.

Writer-director Punit Malhotra wins Round one by casting the right actors in the roles of Jay and Simran. He is heavily inspired by Mills & Boon novels and several Bollywood films, love stories all. The sequences between Imran and Sonam are well penned.

Performance wise, Imran khan is just superb. He plays his part effortlessly. Sonam Kapoor is flawless. Samir Dattani is decent. Samir Soni plays his part extremely well. Kavin Dave, as Imran's buddy, is first-rate and steals the show in several scenes. Aamir Ali is perfect, while Pooja Ghai doesn't get scope to deliver. Ketaki Dave (Sonam's mother) is wasted. Anju Mahendru (Imran's mother) is adequate.

On the whole, I Hate Love Storys is a beautiful love story. The film is mainly for the youth.
